Which ship did you prefer on next generation and the movies. I liked the D by far but the E was kind of cool!!

I'm going to vote with you for the Enterprise D. The E model is too flat and stretched forward for my taste. But to be fair, you should also have included the original, the A, and the C.

I think the E was designed to be flat to make the vessel look more streamline. Although the bridge did look a bit crowded with all of the consoles scattered around.

Yes, I think so too. But in the end, it looks too much like Voyager that way. I grew up watching the original -- saucer section and a separate secondary hull -- so that's the way I think the Enterprise should look.

I must admit I don't know but I got quite a shock in the first episode of TNG which I saw recently and the saucer section split from the bottom!

So hard to choose. The Sovereign-class is great, very powerful. However, there is something very majestic and strong about the Galaxy-class as well.

I was pretty amazed too about the saucer section on the Enterprise-D. But not as surprised when i found out that Voyager could land.

I must admit I don't know but I got quite a shock in the first episode of TNG which I saw recently and the saucer section split from the bottom! Oh yes, that was one of the advanced features of the Galaxy class. Laforge split the saucer section off again in "The Arsenal of Freedom", but apart from that, I don't think we ever saw it again.

Plus of course, Riker separated the saucer section in part 2 of "The Best of Both Worlds". (You know, sometimes I deliberately make a mistake like this to see if anyone will catch it. ) In fact, Lt. Yar asked Picard if he had ever been on a Galaxy class ship and he said no. But both he and Riker acted as if saucer separation and rejoining were a fairly standard maneuver. Riker even did the rejoining by eye, implying that he had done it before.

Wasn't that the episode I was referring to "Encounter At Farpoint"? Saucer seperation DID happen in "The Best of Both Worlds" but it was automatic and after the aforementioned episode, four years in and Picard wasn't on the ship at the time. And we did see it seperate in Generations, just it was a bit broken after that one. Also, it happens once in Voyager when the USS Prometheus seperates into three for that battle.

i prefer NCC-1701-E because the enterprise D looks too top heavy and the enterprise E is alot better and it is just amazing

I know what you mean about "top heavy". I think that's partly because the saucer isn't perfectly round. If you look closely, it's wider than it is long. That looks very weird to me.
