That was series three (Tennant and Agyeman), the same one that gave us "Gridlock", "Blink", and my personal favorite, "The Shakespeare Code"!

My review after was something like: WHAAAAAAAA- HOLY CRAP. About "The Impossible Astronaut" and the follow-up, "Day of the Moon" -- my reaction was... well friends, Dr. Who has finally Jumped the Shark!

That was actually a pretty good one, I thought (after the awful "Curse of the Black Spot"). But somehow it doesn't "feel" like Dr. Who. Too many gothic images I think. Of course it was written by graphic novel legend Neil Gaiman, so what do you expect?

Neil Gaiman? sorry I missed it! I haven't seen either of the new doctors. I have been catching up on some of the reruns with Tennant and Donna Noble.

Yup, Neil Gaiman wrote an episode!
I agree with you about "The Curse of the Black Spot", it was ...rather dull actually. I had more fun watching the Dr Who Confidential afterwards about the making of the episode than the actual episode!
(I hope this isn't a spoiler?) And will they stop freaking killing Rory? Seriously?! It's getting like Kenny from South Park!

Well they have to pick on somebody. It's usually the companion who gets threatened with death, but in this series somehow Amy has become the focus of attention instead of the Doctor (how did that happen?), so they threaten HER companion! "The Black Spot" just felt to me as if it had been rushed into production before the writer had a chance to work all the bugs out. In the end, it just didn't make a lot of sense!

I just saw a rerun of The Impossbile Astronaut and you're right. It made zero sense. MOre like a horror movie than science fiction.

I started watching Doctor Who a few months ago, and have almost gotten through all the episodes since it started back up in 2005.
Who is everyone's favorite doctor? It's Christopher Eccleston for me. I feel like his character is the most complex of the three recent doctors. Plus he was my first doctor, so I think there's a little bias there. Tennant and Smith are great as well.
Looking forward to seeing Peter Capaldi later this year!

I like Ecclestone and Tennant both. My favorite though is probably Paul McGann although he only played the Doctor once, in the 1999 movie. Somebody said Bill Nye would have made a good Dr. Who!
