I just thought I'd start this little topic to see what other people had to say.
In 1993, Khan and a group of his supermen seized control of 40 nations.
Did we miss that?
No, we didn't. And I'll tell you why. As we know, history can be changed by even the slightest modification to the past. We've seem that theme occur throughout many episodes of Star Trek.
I put forth the theory that the events of 1993 were altered by the Enterprise under the command of Captain Kirk in the year 1968 during the episode, "Assignment: Earth". When Kirk and crew went back in time, a chain of events occurred that may have altered the very fabric of time in such a way as to create OUR 1993, where Khan did not take over, and additionally an ALTERNATE 1993 where he did.
I supposed that any time mentioned in Star Trek that refers to a year that we have (in real life) either already passed, or will pass in the near future, was altered by Kirk in that episode.
Another example of altered time is Henry Starling's multimillion dollar company, "Chronowerx," as seen in the Voyager episode Future's End. We could muse that had Kirk not come back in time, we, (in real life,) might have actually seen Chronowerx. But we didn't. We have Bill Gates instead in charge of Microsoft. So the theory is that Bill Gates is in our timeline, while Henry Starling is in the alternate timeline, once again created (quite accidently) by Kirk and crew in 1968.
Phew! Anyone else care to chime in?
~ Oh, and as a sidenote, Star Trek was filmed in the future and was sent back in time to Paramount for them to make episodes out of and put on tv for us. Didja know that?
