Why, I think that these polls should have a why question too...

Exactly so. What do you like so much about Riker, Regulator? Inquiring minds want to know.

I chose Data because, I admire his attempts to become more human even though in many ways, he is superior to humans. Data, at times has really amused me. After Data had the emotion chip He came closer to his goal to become more human. I think it was a wise thing for Data to shut the chip off, when he became frightened. I liked the other characters to. Some more than others.

I chose Jean Luc Picard, but I always feel like its a tie between him and Data (by the way, his name is misspelled in the poll...), which I think I've explained somewhere on these boards before. I love Jean Luc's character. He's a strong CO with awesome diplomatic strengths but he also knows when the time for diplomacy ends and the need for force begins. I love that he has interests in literature and archeology - he always reminds me of a true Renaissance man. I also appreciate the fatherly, mentor role he takes on aboard the Enterprise.
As for Data, I've always appreciated the depth his character has in his quest to be human - and the way he teaches all of us what real humanity is.
Since Data is a run-away on the poll, I chose Picard to break the tie in my head.

Is it just me, or did data seem more human in the first episodes? Maybe the episode when he was "drunk" is just sticking in my mind more than others.

I think you might just be thinking of that one episode ("The Naked Now"). Can you give us another example?

I would have to vote for Doctor Crusher, as the actress who played her (Gates McFadden) did a wonderful job with everything. I wish they had renewed her contract for the second season, but things did not go as she had planned.
I also liked Jean-Luc Picard, as the actor was English.

I'm not sure if I have a favorite TNG character...I like them all pretty evenly right now. But I'm still pretty new to this series (being a TOS fan). Maybe after I watch a few more seasons I'll have an idea of which character made me want to continue watching to the end.

I'm just bumping this back to the top for Beth's benefit.
