Weyoun, I wish I could remember more German. I took a couple years of it in high school. It would be fun to have someone to practice with.
Ich bin ein dummkopf.

I know what you mean. I took 2 years of Russian and hardly remember anything. My French is very bad, although I took it for three years and I live very close to the French border.
Spanish is a beautiful language. My sister learned a little in school. I'd love to learn at least one more language within the next years but I havn't decided yet. Swedish, Dutch, Italian or even Latin

This American doesn't speak German I did take a year and a half of Spanish but unfortunately all was lost when I didn't use it. I would like to eventually learn another language.

I am also interested in other languages, but never can seem to find the time to learn much these days.

Its an advantage to know more about other languages! I have studied the history of the English language. It is a hybred language with a base of low germanic dialects like saxon and some norse influence with middle Norman French changing it afterward. there is alot more to this. This is the short version. We get the bad spelling from the Middle Norman French influence.

Danish - English Sværd - Sword Hus - House Is - Ice Alter - Altar Båd - Boat

Good examples Mac!! Old norse languages along with the old germanic languages are related to each other. they both formed the basis for Old English.
