Don't mince words, Admrial, tell us what you really think! Uh, yeah that's what I was thinking while I was watching this. So big deal, if he gets into trouble he can always use his time machine to got back and erase his mistakes. You mean he can't do that?

No he can't! At least all through the Dr. Who series up until now he couldn't! That was the only thing that made the premise work! Rose Tyler (his companion in the first season) even specifically brought this up, and he (chris Ecclestone, the Doctor at that time) specifically explained why he can't use the Tardis this way!

And waht was with the flying fish? At first i thought it was kind of neat but then I was thinking if the fish can float around in the air like that why can't the people do it? It made no sense!

Doctor Who often has strange things like that going on, but you used to be able to count on the writers to explain it, so that it made at least a little sense, and it was actually thought-provoking. This new head writer doesn't bother. Apparently he just goes for high weirdness, and hang the sense of it.

I guess it was supposed to be kind of heart-renching or something, the way the poor girl was locked in the freeze chamber and only had seven days. And when he was down to the last day, he just couldn't bear to let her out that one last time. But its kind of a set up isn't it? I mean what kind of technology would let you know exactly how many days someone has to live and not beable to cure her?

Exactly so! It was such an artificially contrived situation, it didn't tug on my heartstrings at all. Not the slightest. But guess what? They were so convinced people would love the story, they already have the DVDs ready for sale! Hah!
It's a shame really. That was the last good science fiction series on TV.

I have been watching some of the David Tennant epis and you're right! The one about the library was cool! Vashta Nerada, the eaters in the dark!

A library that covers an entire planet -- what's not to like? But the Vashta Nerada was the weakest part of that episode I thought. I would have liked it better if we had some kind of explanation what they were. But they were just an invisible unstoppable thing that basically killed at random. That sort of thing bores me.
What I liked was River Song -- well not her personally, but the idea that she was from the Doctor's future. She had known him for years (intimately, apparently), but he hadn't met her yet.

I haven't actually seen that one cos I've been kinda haphazardly watching it up to now. I'm going to start watching it more - partially because I like it and on a smaller note my second nephew's recently got into Dr Who so it'll give me something new to talk with him about. Or rather understand what he's talking about!
I actually kinda liked the Christmas episode, admittedly I often don't necessarily give deep thought to television often (if you manage to get me to go lolwut in a episode you're doing something badly wrong). And yes, I must say it wasn't the greatest episode ever but I found it rather fun and endearing (though IA on the oddness of the countdown thing).
I must declare though that the current head writer actually wrote some of the only episodes that scared the crap out of me so...(Blink and The Empty Child).

Well, Star Trek spoiled me. I got me to thinking about the science fiction I watch, and I can't seem to break the habit!
Oh yes "Blink" was one of my favorites! I once described it as probably the definitive time-travel paradox story! So I'm not criticizing the writer himself; it's possibly just that he's been doing this too long!

Did you see the one yesterday? Where the Doctor had to change himself into a human and hide out in a boy's school in looks like just before WWI by the look of it! Thisis cool! I can't wait to see part 2!

Oh yes, that was one of the better two part stories I thought. The Doctor briefly got to see what it would be like to have a normal life! and the best part was the end, when the Doc and Martha fast forwarded to visit Tim as an old man!

Series Six started on BBC America this Saturday night with "The Impossible Astronaut". Anyone care to venture a synopsis, review or opinion?
