I don't really watch DS9 like i do TNG, TOS and the films but i did like Bashir and Jadzia as my fave characters i named my cat after them...the siggy. but he died but am getting a new one and calling it Curzon Dax. So it's just like the characters and the names as well that i liked about DS9. Trills in general rule beside my love for Vulcans... TK

i think it was ok for Ezri to be unconfident in the first few episodes because she didnt want the dax really in the first place- and there was the factor of getting use to it. However i think after a few episodes i would have liked to see her grow much more confident. Jadzia use to say that she was not confident before she was joined. I think it would have been great to see the dax's confidence and enthusiasm grow through Ezri.

Don't blame you! I did like Ezri myself - I think I saw someone I could kinda relate to myself in her.

As you can see my my name, I adored Jadzia I do agree though that she didn't really play alot of the scientific scenes quite right but I loved the thing between her and worf and her relationship with the klingons and some of the ideas she brought up. Ezri on the other hand I didn't like so much. I mean she was nice and friendly but she just didn't seem to fit her job and the fact that she seemed to be a bit emotioinaly unstable added to be not quite being able to believe that she was a qualified counceller. I would of been much happier if there were no more Dax's on DS9 Also, is there any reason why Dax's charecter was brought out? Did the actor not want to play Dax anymore or something?? x

I dont watch DS9 that much but I can see how an actor would get tired of the same role for something like five years and want to try something else. Have you seen her (Terry Ferrell) on BEcker?

"Becker" was an American sitcom, so there's probably not much chance Dax has seen it. But she was good in it.

It ran about the year 2001, 2004 somewhere in there. Reruns show up in America sometimes, but as I say you may have trouble finding it in Britain.

I actually like Ezri better than Jadzia. Jadzia was too uppity. Ezri had all these expectations piled all around her that she couldn't escape, she just had to deal with them, and I think she dealt with them well. She also had more problems and insecurities. I think that makes her an easier character to relate with.

I did not think there was more of a irritating character than Harry Kim until we were introduced to Ezri Dax.

To be quite honest, I didn't like her character one bit. I would have liked to have seen her come in once maybe twice to keep the Dax alive so to speak. But replacing Jadzia? NOT POSSIBLE I say, they should have just left it alone when she left the show. I posted this back in 2008.
Now however my feelings have changed on the issue.
Granted my point she could never replace Jadzia is still true I think. However I don't believe she was meant to. She was a completely different character with the substance of back story uniquely adaptable from previous Drax hosts; Jadzia being the noteworthy one as we only ever see Curson Dax once in a single cutaway.
Using our affection for Jadzia made it easier to like the replacement by keeping Jadzia part of the show by proxy of Ezri.
Also; she tamed Julian to a degree so what's not to like there? There was a certain vulnerability about her at first but she develops into a strong woman and character and a noble successor to Jadzia but never her replacement.
