The Enterprise went to a planet called Galorndon Core, which is near the Romulan neutral zone. Riker, Worf, and La Forge beamed down. They found the remains of a small Romulan ship and one injured Romulan. There were storms down there with strong magnetic Fields that were harmful to life. La Forge fell down a hole and had to climb out. When he got out. The away team had gone back to the Enterprise because the storms were getting worse. La Forge was taken prisoner by a Romulan named Centurion Bochra. As time passed Geordi tried to reason with Bochra. The strong magnetic storms began to effect their health. La Forge's Visor ceased to function and the Romulan could not walk. They had to cooperate to survive. Which they did in time as things got worse. Wesley Crusher came up with the idea to send a probe down that would emit neutrinos that La Forge could see with his visor. Which he saw before he lost the use of his visor. Bachra with the help of La Forge talking him through the procedure attached the visor to a tricorder to see the neutrino beacon. They got to the beacon and were rescued.....more later!

Mac. I have seen a lot of other shows with similar/same plots, Like the sci-fi movie "Enemy Mine". While La forge was down on the surface. The Enterprise had to deal with a Romulan War bird. Lt Worf was the only compatible donor for the injured Romulan to save his life.....more on this later.

Yes, this is a classic theme where two enemies must learn to trust one another ("Hell in the Pacific" was a good World War II movie built around the same premise). But this was one of my favorite episodes. Centurian Bochra struck me as a very young, very naive officer, all puffed up on the concept of dying for the good of the Empire.

Atoz. This is one of my favorite episodes to! You are right about Centurion Bochra! I would like to have seen him again in another episode! The experience he had shared with La Forge changed him for the better!! I believe I have seen the movie " Hell in the Pacific." or a movie a lot like it! Its been a long time though! It was also good!

"Hell in the Pacific" is a classic -- Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune. The interesting thing is that neither of them ever learns to understand a word of the other's language. Each of them talks, but they never communicate except by pantomime.

Atoz. Thanks for the info on "Hell in the Pacific" ! It was the movie I saw years ago.
Before La Forge and Bochra trusted each other enough to cooperate, I thought La Forge's Sarcastic remarks were kind of funny. He did do a good job in what else he said to Bochra to get him to trust him! I really liked this part of the episode! I was disappointed at Worf for refusing to donate his ribosomes to the injured Romulan, Who said "I would rather die than pollute my body with Klingon filth!"

That would have been a good excuse for Worf to donate them, just to spite him! But that was also a tough decision for Picard, wasn't it -- he could have ordered Worf to donate, but he didn't.

It was a very difficult decision for Captain Picard!!! I remember him intensely imploring Worf to donate his ribosomes to the injured Romulan for the sake of preserving the peace!! Dr Crusher had a VERY valid point when she mentioned to Worf about this Romulan was not the one who murdered his parents!!!!!!!!

It's hard for us to relate to the kind of blood feud that obviously exists between the Klingons and the Romulans. Since we know that Worf is a very moral man, stuffed to the gills with honor, it must be an extremely deep thing, completely beyond our understanding. In a way, I'm glad he stuck to his guns there, because it underscores what a personal thing his feelings for the Romulans are.

I agree with Atoz, because they did (LaForge and Romulan) had to depend on each other/ trust in each other.
That applies in real life today, as we have to depend/trust on each other, which is really hard with all the war and other stuff going on.

Atoz and MGomez. Very well put! It can often go against all diverse people believe in, like or dislike, differences, to put all that aside to cooperate in order to survive a life threatening situation! The Alternative is death!!

Just a couple of posts ago, I was defending Worf, but on the other hand, isn't this blood feud thing just another example of irrational prejudice? In his scenes with Riker and Picard, you can see that Worf is uneasy; it's almost as if he knows he's being irrational, and he WANTS someone to order him to do it. That way he can salve his conscience.

Atoz. You have a very good point about Worf, irrational, and what I would call "Blind indiscriminating prejudice and hatred!" Now that I think about it, in a way Worf or part of him would have been relieved to have been ordered to donate the ribosomes to save the dieing Romulan in-spite of his feelings for the Romulans because this was not the Romulan who murdered his parents and it was the right/best thing to do considering the circumstances!!
