This is the episode where Wesley had to take the entrance exam for Starfleet academy, along with three other applicants. What about that Psych Test?

As I recall, the psych test was to test a Star Fleet cadet/members Character in certain complicated and dangerous situations.

That's true. I'm not going to ask what your test was, because that's personal.
One of the questions was interesting, though -- the one about antimatter intermix ratios. If you think about it, only a 1 to 1 ratio makes sense. The energy comes from mutual annihilation, so putting in more matter than antimatter wouldn't do any good. The extra would just sit there.
But.... in "Skin of Evil", chief engineer Leland T. Lynch called for a 25 to 1 ratio. Are there any Engineering specialists around who could tell us why?

Atoz. This is a good question about "The skin of evil" and the intermix ratio being 25 to 1. Maybe they needed a chemical reaction to go with the matter-antimatter to combat/destroy the evil skin entity.....I'm just speculating. What kind of chemical reaction......I'm don't know. I will see if the other trek forum I go to has any answers to this and get back to you if anyone knows anything or has a better more detailed explanation for this.

In Skin of Evil they were doing maintenance on the dilithium chamber and had to restart the engines. Thats when he needed a 25:1 ratio.

That's true. I was right at the beginning of the episode, and because the ship's engines were shut down, that was the reason they couldn't prevent Troi's shuttlecraft from crashing into Armus' planet.
But back to "Coming of Age" -- we got a glimpse of the diversity of students who apply for the Academy, and the rigorous screening process to narrow it down. I mean, if Wesley missed it by just a few points....?
