A small cargo vessel, caught apparently running without a flight plan and refusing to answer signals, flees into an asteroid belt. As the ship is destroyed, the Enterprise manages to rescue the pilot, "Leo Walsh", and his "cargo" of three unusually beautiful women bound for Ophiucus VII.
The first appearance of Harry Mudd, lovable rogue that he is. As a guess, I would say that the Venus drug apparently had a biochemical effect, stepping up the production of sexual pheromones (and presumably would have had a similar effect if men had taken it). Although the women were seen as much more attractive than normal, they weren't literally "irresistable" (as, for example, the "Green Orion women" in ENT were depicted). The drug also seemed mildly addictive to the women themselves. I thought it was rather odd that we hardly saw any of the female crew of the Enterprise in this episode. It would have been interesting to see how they reacted to the women.

The female crew members may have been jealous of Mudd's drug enhanced women! I'm sure they would have become suspicious after awhile. I never thought about the drug's effect on a man, but it would make sense that it would make a male more masculine assuming that the Venus drug didn't only work on women.
