I have read both books and seen both movies. Though the movies were released backwards they are good films. I prefer the books though as they cut out a lot of things from the books when they made the movies.

I've read both books, too. I only saw the movie version of "The DaVinci Code", and I thought it was terrible. But I don't see what the big deal is. They're nice, edge-of-your-seat action movies, but not really all that good, when you sit down and think about them.

I found it a little confusing in places. Dan Brown adds a lot of scientific things too his work as well as different kind of codes.

I also got one of those paperbacks which criticize "Angels & Demons", pointing out the many errors in the book. For example, did you know that according to experts, a retina scan reader will probably NOT read a dead eye?

Most writers make those mistakes as they don't really look into that side of things all that much. I'm sure people who write fanfic make light mistakes like that. I know I do some of the time.

I know what you mean. For some reason there's almost a cottage industry of pointing out Brown's mistakes! There are whole chapters in this book ("Inside Angels & Demons") that rake him over the coals for getting the geography of Rome wrong. Half the time he's driving the wrong way down a one way street for example. It doesn't spoil my enjoyment of Brown's book, but it's a fun book to read anyway.
And of course there was big hole in the story that I spotted right away. Maybe the Vatican's sensitive equipment couldn't find the canister because it was made of plastic, but surely they could have detected the magnetic field it gave off, couldn't they? But as I said, it didn't spoil the book for me.

It always seems that the bigger the book the more people are into delving into what's wrong with it.

That book that was mentioned that points out the mistakes in his books. It sounds similar to "The Nitpickers Guide to Star Trek".
When I first read the book and saw the movie "The DaVinci Code", I recalled that I always thought the person next to Jesus in the painting looked like a woman.

Once again I hate to be a nitpicker, but that is supposed to be the apostle John, and he was always represented as a young man. Plus in that time period, a young woman in a gathering of men would have worn her hair bound up. It does make a good story, though, I'll grant you.
