Sorry, it just jumped out the blue and I was like "Where did that...huh?"
I got it half right, which actually isn't bad as I haven't seen much of TOS yet.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but I read that Grace Lee Whitney who played Yeoman Janice Rand passed away.

I took note of it in the Shout Box, but I didn't start a thread because, honestly I couldn't think of anything to say. In the article I read, it said that she had had a drinking problem which was probably the reason she had been dropped from Star Trek (I had heard rumors to that effect), but that she had recovered and gone on to do a number of charitable works. She was a very interesting lady apparently.

I don't know if you recall since you've said you didn't watch Voyager that much. She was in an episode of Voyager that was an anniversary episode (30th anniversary of Trek I believe). It was the one where Tuvok was recalling his service on board the Excelsior under command of Capt. Sulu. Rand was the communications officer.
Also wasn't she the transporter operator in Star Trek The Motion Picture. She was at the controls when the 2 officers were lost during the beaming process.* I think she was seen briefly in the third and fourth Trek movie.
*One of the officers lost was Lt. Sovak (at least I think that was his name). I read a rumor somewhere that the other one lost was supposed to have been Kirk's contract wife.

I didn't see that one. But then I can only think of about a dozen VOY episodes I have seen.
Yes, she was the transporter chief in the Motion Picture. According to the Novelized version, the Vulcan was called Sonek (I think; I'll have to dig it out and read it again), and the second was a female admiral whom Kirk had been sleeping with at one time (but not any longer). In hindsight, Kirk had realized that Admiral Nogura had set them up on purpose and their relationship had been supposed to keep him content with his desk job.
