What does everyone think about the remaster TOS? I think it takes away from the Original feel.

I think it adds a high-resolution, surround sound element that the "unmastered" version doesn't have. The feel is still conveyed by the actors the same as when it first aired.

I haven't seen any of them yet. I have seen glimpses of the advertisements on television, though, and from those glimpses, I would tend to agree with German. I remember the original Enterprise as a pristine white color. I don't think it should be redone in grey. But as I said, I haven't seen an episode, so I haven't gotten the full effect.

Along those lines, here's a picture of the model that was used to shoot the original series, which is hanging in the Smithsonian.... www.nasm.si.edu/imageDetail.cfm?imageID=1182I wonder if it was the lighting that made it look white in the series?

I haven't seen a full episode yet, but I think it is a great idea as long as they don't mess with what the actors did and don't attempt to 'replace' the original series. I really wish the dvds were coming out on blu-ray, so I could see them in hd and have an excuse to buy a blu-ray player. Maybe in a few years they will give in...

I have seen only a few of the remastered TOS episodes. I saw "The Doomsday machine" and "The Balance of Terror" are all I can think of right now. I like the remastered more views of the ships in spite of taking away from the original feel of TOS.

For about 23 hours, yes. I'm talking remastered.

I've just bought the second season remastered DVDs, and I have to say it's definitely worth it! For one thing, the planets have icecaps, cloud cover, ring systems, surface details. In "The Gamesters of Triskelion", we finally get to see the trinary star! In "Amok Time", they added an "establishing shot" which shows the whole Koon-at-kal-if-fee arena at the top of a high mountain crag, with long stone bridges connecting it to nearby mountains. It looks a lot like that place they took Spock to have his katra restored at the end of "The Search for Spock". They've also subtly enhanced things like phaser beams and the transporter effect. As I said, it's definitely worth it.
