Hi all! I'm a fan of tos and tng. I favor tos, and just saying hello.

Pleased to meet you, Mr. Orlok, a man after mine own heart! I grew up watching TOS and it's still my favorite although I also enjoy TNG. DS9 and VOY not so much. One of these days the suits at Paramount are going to have to get off their duffs and give us a new Star Trek series.

Well and their movies. I'd love a new show if done right, but i don't see it happening. Just more of these new movies. Also, I wish they sold non remastered DVDs of tos. But I don't mind my remastered ones.

I personally don't hold out much hope that any new version of Star Trek would be done right. Times have changed too much. Do you realize that a lot of people complain that the Starfleet characters are too "nice"? People expect cut-throat competition and violence these days.

Which is totally against what Gene Roddenberry wanted. Kinda like after he passed, and they changed the tone of the last few seasons of tng. I think he'd dislike the new movies as well.

I totally agree. Some of the episodes about terrorism, for example, you get the feeling the writers were just waiting for him to get out of their way. I believe that Majel Barrett mentioned once that after Roddenberry was gone, she felt as if she weren't welcome there anymore either.
You see it in comic books, too. They claim that the world is a much more violent and dangerous place, so their stories have to reflect that. The irony is that if you look at the statistics, violent crimes have been decreasing ever since the 60s. It's just that television keeps putting on more and more violent shows, so people think the world is more dangerous.

Interesting item. But in my opinion Star Trek without the Federation would be pointless.
