I Agree It Is Atoz. Though I May Not Be From Earth, I Still Have A Duty To help Others Understand The Minor Flaws Of Star Fleet. Infact We Can Learn Allot From Them!

I actually have very little knowledge of TNG, but I watched the movies as part of weekend marathon I did of the 10 films (actually it was like 3 weekends). Anyway, this movie is the first exposure I have to the Borg, but I was aware of the fact that Picard became a Borg somehow or another. But, the holodeck thing was weird to me. I didn't get how all that holographic imagery could become real death and destruction for someone. But overall I enjoyed the movie and could overlook the flaws mostly because I don't have the background of the series. Time travel plots are overdone in the Trek films though.

It's interesting but my reaction is the opposite of yours. I was familiar enough with the Borg to be tired of them, quite frankly. So the only part of the story I liked was the time travel part. I do agree that time travel was overused a bit in TNG and ENT series, but in this case the story of Zephram Cochrane was interesting enough by itself, at least to me.
There are lots of things I don't understand about how the holodeck works. What bothered me about this is -- knowing that the Borg could neutralize specific frequencies of their energy weapons, why didn't they just Replicate a bunch of Tommy guns? Wouldn't that make sense?
