Does anyone know if Thomas Riker( the transporter duplicate of will Riker) survived/escaped from the cardassian labor camp after he gave himself up after taking the Defiant to attack the cardassians because he was a member of the Maquis?

When did he join the Maquis? I must have missed something... If Thomas was anything like Will, he probably did escape/survive.

Mr Data. Thomas Riker joined the Maquis about a little over year after he was posted on the USS Gandhi. which was right after he was discovered on Nervala IV after being alone down there for about 8 years. The 2 Rikers were transporter duplicates. The one who was on the planet for 8 years wanted to distinguish himself from his duplicate and went by his middle name of Thomas. What he did was impersonate his double as a member of the maquis and stole the Defiant from DS9 to fight the Cardassians. He gave himself up to save his crew. After being sent to the cardie labor camp and the war that soon followed......I wonder if he survived/escaped.....and if so what happened to him??? He probably did, but I don't know, but I'm sure some one does!!!

That must have been Deep Space Nine. I'm not nearly as familiar with that series...

If anyone reads Trek books and are familiar with the 'Imzadi' novels by Peter David, Tom Riker was liberated form the labour camp in the second book, 'Imzadi 2-Triangle', set between Generations and First Contact.

Well, I don't consider the novels canonical. They may be entertaining (although more often not in my personal experience), but each is the result of one particular person's interpretation of the Star Trek universe. To use an incident in a novel as an argument about Star Trek is very tricky. And that goes for my own stories, too.

I don't want you to misunderstand me. Some of the novels have some interesting speculation about what might have happened -- (I'm thinking of "Probe" by Margaret Wander Bonanno, where she imagines that the Probe which devastated Earth in "The Voyage Home" was built by a race of intelligent cetaceans and its attempts at communication disrupted our technology in the same way human technology disrupted the whales' communication, a fascinating idea; too bad the novel itself was dull as dishwater) -- I'm just saying that just because it's been published doesn't make it any more valid or more "official" than any other Trekkie's speculation.
