So, this doesn't take place in the "real" Trek universe, and that's a good thing. What should we call the new continuity? Pine Trek, JJ-verse, Zach Trek? How about Star Trek? This franchise has been messing around with time more than Doc Brown and Marty McFly.

I actually refer to it as nuTrek if I want to make a distinction but mostly it's just Star Trek.

Hey guys! Look, I finally got a chance to get back on the forum! Yay! You all might hate me for this but: I can't stand the new movie and I believe it's a big disgrace to Star Trek. When I first saw it, I thought JJ was just being a douche and threw away 40 years of Star Trek history just because he could. Then I get this lecture about "Oh, well it's an alternate reality so you should just except it." Am I the only one who felt he made it an "alternate reality" because he didn't know crap about ST when he first started making the movie? Also, the fight scene. In the special features of the DVD, it said he based it on Star Wars. HOLD UP. Yeah, I'm one of those nerds who's sensitive about this. Star Trek and Star Wars should never be mixed. Not like this. It's blasphemy. The only things I like about it were Leonard Nimoy being in it and Spock and Uhura being a cute couple in it. But that's all. My point is, I can't consider it part of the Star Trek universe. Maybe if it was under another name, with different characters and alien races and planets, it would have been fine, but as Star Trek, it doesn't cut it.

I completely agree with you, Kellyann. But a lot of people seem to like it. Practically every Star Trek forum I'm on has accepted it. I don't like it, but there's not a lot I can do about it.

But I'm one of the people who loved the movie, and I don't hate you for having a different opinion. But consider this: Star Trek: Nemesis and Star Trek: Enterprise copied Star Wars before J.J. did. What happened to the phasers? Well, in Enterprise they use phase pistols, making the fight scenes look more like Star Wars. And they used phase pistols in Nemesis, as well. Where are the phasers that we know and love, and that remind us we're watching Star Trek? I'm probably not as sensitive about Star Trek vs. Star Wars, but I definitely do like to keep Star Trek looking like Star Trek.

D: If I wrote romantic fanfiction, I would totally do stories on those two. :3 But consider this: Star Trek: Nemesis and Star Trek: Enterprise copied Star Wars before J.J. did. Crap... I forgot about that... -__-
