First on my list are those electronic paper towel dispensers in restrooms (the ones with the red LEDs ) that you have to pass your hand past to get a paper towel. I usually need 3 to dry my hands with . They take a long time to reset themselves ! This is a lot easier with the older low tech paper towel dispensers except for the ones you have to crank at warp factor 9 to get a few inches of paper towel!!! ;D I think the technology would be best if used on something else!!!!! If it works fine low tech, don't ruin it by adding useless technology best served in an area that actually could use it!!!! More soon!!

I've never seen one of these. I've seen hand-blowers activated by electronic eyes, and they generally work pretty well. I suppose the rationale behind this device is that most people are wasteful, taking more paper than they need.

I have thought of the wastefulness issue to. I was thinking more of people like me who do a thorough job at washing their hands and need more than one paper towel to dry them.

I'm beginning to this this analog/digital transfer is a waste. Granted you'd get a lot more channels if you live near a city. But out here in the country where I live, if the weather is anything but perfect, you get a lot of "No signal" messages.

I live in the city and there are still days when ours give the 'no signal' sign too... so irritating

And no way does it make people use less paper as you have just proven, in fact it makes the entire act of drying your hands more wasteful, cause you have to use electricity to power the sucker. **** waste of resources. But diesel or gasoline powered cars, that is such a waste of resources and technology, because right now we have the technology to convert all cars into a more environmentally sound fuel or even make them more fuel efficient. In this case it really pisses me off that the available technology is not being used. But on a lighter note: The dancing plastic flower. you know the one that has a motion detector and starts dancing when it sense someone close to. That is a waste of tech.

I think that those mechanical forks are such a waste of technology,... I mean come on,... forks are just so easy to use as it is! If anything everyone should use chopsticks for everything! Then everyone would have better portion control.... sheesh.

I'm in agreement with you on this one Mac. Technologies that are already in existence are not being used because of the greed of some very unethical people!!

I agree, I normally need more than what it allows...and I don't like the blowers either because it doesn't dry your hands fast enough. Oh and I hate the auto toilet flushers too. They say it saves water but I swear that thing goes off too many times...useless!

I also dont like those auto flushers for the same reason as JADIS but for another reason to: I can never get the darned things to work so i stand there for age waving my hand in front of the circle.

I haven't heard anything more useless; Auto Flush. Sure we are all armless lazy buggers... (no offence to either armless or lazy people meant).
Did you know that from a lump of coal to a cup of hot water only 1% of the energy is actually transferred. (I made a school essay about it 20 years ago) All of this is again due to lack of use of technology. If the proper techniques and technology is used, we can increase this number to 10%.
Oh, have you thought about it coloured and patterned paper tissues. A waste of tech again. It will just end in the trash anyway.

Yeah theres no point in making them look pretty! I agree totally about this!!! The TP is for function and not supposed to win a beauty contest!! What next? Pearl handled toilet brushes and plungers for the wealthy to look good with their platinum plated toilet seats!! ;D

What next? Pearl handled toilet brushes and plungers for the wealthy to look good with their platinum plated toilet seats!! ;D Actually, my ex-wife brought a toilet brush with transparent handle with liquid and a floating duck inside. No, I am not kidding. It is true. And what about Lava-lamps? Yeah, they are pretty, but do you know how much energy it takes to heat up the fat, so it becomes liquidy, just so there are pretty colours and light.

The lava lamps do waste energy heating up the liquid inside of them!
One thing I can't stand is people who leave lights on in a room they are not coming back to! An inexpensive detector would pay for it self by turning out lights after a short time when the person doesn't come back into the room. My first wife would have every light on in the house left on. This really made me mad and I let her know to!
