There have been some complaints flying around lately, and I need to do my best to put a stop to these problems. The first thing I need EVERYONE to do is read the Forum Rules. If you have any questions about something you don't understand in the rules, please send me a PM. It's very important that everyone reads and understands what's in the rules. I think if everyone does this simple thing, we would all be better for it. Now, I need to make it clear I'm not singling anyone out. What I say here is for every member of the forum, including myself. I like people posting non-Star Trek stuff, I just want to hope that's not all we do. I'd like to think of the forum as sort of an internet family, where I can come and talk about whatever's on my mind. But lately some people think there isn't enough intelligent Star Trek discussion. Whether or not that's 100% true, I'll let you decide. I just think it's important that we try our best to keep conversations intelligent and thought-provoking. This is honestly one of the best Star Trek forums out there, but we still have room for improvement. I don't want to ramble on too much, so I'll leave it at that. I hope this makes sense to everyone. I like people disagreeing and having a good debate, but this should be one topic that we all agree on.

I will go back through the forum rules and do my best to abide by them! I like this forum! It's a lot of fun and thought provoking for the most part!

You are quite right, but at times I fear we too few star trek-related thought-provoking subjects to talk about.
One of the reasons why I decided to start the RPG. It makes one think about star trek and therefore there might turn some interesting subjects.

It makes one think about star trek and therefore there might turn some interesting subjects. I agree that sometimes it's hard to come up with new topics. It would be a lot easier if, say, there was a new series to watch every week. At least with an RPG members can simulate it. My hat goes off to all the RPGers here.

I said this in the forum rank thread but I'm repeating it here because everyone should see it. Here's the deal. I'm not punishing anyone by changing the ranks. Everyone was basically knocked down one rank, so no one gained any sort of advantage. I'm trusting the posters not to spam their way to increasing their rank. If I see this happening, it could very well result in a warning (or worse) since it's against the rules. If someone wants to voice their displeasure about the new ranks, please PM me, and I would be happy to discuss it. I apologize for not making it clear in the original post that the ranks are subject to change, so they can't be expected to always be 100% the same. I made this clear in the old rank system thread, but I forgot to carry it over to this one. Now, they don't change very often at all, and I expect them to stay where they are for a very long time. I just feel it's important that everyone earns their rank over time, and that they can't rise up too fast in a short period of time. Sorry for the rant!

You're very right about earning rank over time. I like a challenge! I'm glad to hear that. I've also included a small update to the rules about spamming. Update: If you find yourself having a conversation with someone that is completely off-topic, please continue your conversation via PM or the Shoutbox at the bottom of the main page. This will help decrease spamming as well. Thank you.

everyone really needs to read the spamming rules over. this constant double spamming will not be tolerated. especially two word posts as well, just to up your post count is simply silly. this isn't a race to the top, keep the topics clean and mature. saying "i like it too!" or "i agree" does not count as a proper post. if they keep showing up, they will be deleted and possible post counts removed. If its the only way for everyone to realize that we are being serious, then thats the way it has to be.
We are not intending to be hateful in anyway, but it seems like no one is getting it. Do not take this in the wrong way, think of it as our way to improve the quality of posts so everyone can enjoy themselves more, be more productive in their explanations.

We're not trying to punish anyone. It's just important that we set ourselves to a high standard. Not to mention it will help attract new members when they're looking around the forum for the first time.

The only problem i really have is in the introduction section, where i try to expand "Hello" Right, that's definitely understandable. Usually I just try to make a sentence or two out of it by saying I hope they enjoy themselves, if you have any questions please ask, etc.

This is why I generally try to ask a personal question when I greet someone. For one thing, it prevents it from being exactly like every other greeting. For another, it encourages the person to talk a little about him/her self. That's what First Contact is supposed to be for, isn't it? It's a topic devoted solely to that person.

I agree with you, not many people do a greeting where they try and talk to the person by trying to find out little things, like 'hello there welcome to the site, I am so and so do you like pets? Or do you have any pets as I like them.' Things like this is always nice to see, and I love it when someone ask me about things that I know I can reply to other then 'hello and welcome to the site' I have had that so many times. (Sighs and hides under my blanket)
