I just watched this episode. Its the episode where they find a ford truck floating around in space and then find it has a SOS signal which leads them to a planet where they find some humans of various cultures in stasis that went missing in 1937. They then found out that these people were the ancestors of the inhabitents of the planet(also humans). The 37s were captured from earth to be used as workers. I thought this was a very interesting episode because it does explain the mystery of Ameilia Arheart! What are your thoughts?

I enjoyed the "37's" It's one of my favorite Voyager episodes. I like how the Humans had overthrown their oppressors and built a great civilization!! This isn't the only time aliens have abducted Humans.

I also liked the loyalty of the voyager crew. They could of stayed on the planet but no, they stayed with voyager. That made me happy!

yeah seemed like a very tough choice being 50,000 lightyears from earth and then a planet like this shows up frolicking with human life. what devotion!

I fail to see the attraction to human life, being a new civilisation i suspect they are more like us than the mighty Federation

This is one of the few episodes I can actually comment on. I thought they should have seriously considered staying. That planet could have used a starship to protect them.

It may be true that they needed the starship, but I can tell you now from watching that ep the crew of Voyager are so loyal that it is unreal. If I was in their shoes, I would have gave up trying to get home and then start a life on that planet. But the crew all stuck together and in the end although it took some time, they got home, such loyalty like that can never be bought. It also dose show that aliens have abducted humans and that means or to me it means that although the star treks all of them, how many humans in the past have ended up on other planets as slaves? And how many are still slaves? Also are they like we are now or have they changed into more evloved forms of human?

Thats a very good question melody. I have wonderd that too. If I was on voyager I would not stay on the planet I would stay on Voyager. Mainly for the excitment of exploring space and to have the possibility of seeing my family again.

Thanks Dex123 I was just thinking about what had happened to humans. I think thye should make one star trek seires where we can see what has happened to at least some of the humans that had been taken by the bad aliens and turned into slaves. And if they somehow left in a ship that the aliens may have had, and then where they ended up, and how they deiced who would be the captain or even if they had a captain. It would be fun to see or even read.

It was no doubt a very difficult choice to make for Voyager's crew! If half had chose to stay, they would have been undermanned. Atoz brought up a good point about them needing a starship to protect them! They never did show the decedents of the "37s" to have any space craft technology. I think they could have, but it was most likely far less advanced than Voyager was if they had any kind of space program. It could have been about 22nd century level, but I'm just guessing based on the technology I saw. The Aliens that abducted the "37's" could very well have been more advanced than the Federation in some areas like propulsion! This would be needed to get 50,000 light years in less than several decades!

the original series theorized a race called the Providers that seeded humans through our part of the galaxy at least. That's why there were so many human looking aliens. But they werent taken as slaves. I wouldn't think any alien that can travel from one end of the galaxy to the other would need slaves.

But they werent taken as slaves. I wouldn't think any alien that can travel from one end of the galaxy to the other would need slaves. This is just one possible scenario involving the abduction and spreading of Humans throughout the galaxy. They may not need slaves, but some may have wanted slaves because they didn't have time or want to do the menial labor. It's just one of many possible explanations for this type of scenario. Each species has it's own laws, beliefs, and values. It stands to reason that over all there will be mixed feelings about slavery or relocation of a species for any number of reasons.
