I know I didn't add, say, 'Lieutenant Junior Grade' or such and such, because there wasn't too much spare room. XD Personally, I think I'd like Lieutenant Commander the best. I'd try my best to quickly gain that position then wait a while before advancing. It seems like a nice rank. High enough, but not too low. My next would be Captain, even though Commanders do have fun on the Away Missions...

There are advantages and disadvantages with each rank. Being a lower rank means a lot less responsibility, but you have to obey your superiors. Higher rank means you have more authority, but are held much more accountable like for people under your command. Being who I am if in the context of being in the Star Trek universe, I don't think I would make Star Fleet my career because I don't take orders well. I might be in it for one enlistment at best, but move onto other things when my enlistment was over.

:)I would probably like to be a lieutenant commander. You have some autority but arnt responisble for the whole crew. I would be in the science department and definatly NOT in a command possistion!

Captain. As Picard said, "There really is no substitute for holding the reins."

Captain. I know that most people would want to aspire toward this goal but there is a good reason for that. I would be quite happy to make all of the hard descissions, even if I know the pressure would be immense. However, realistically, I always perform well as "being one level below whoever is in charge, but above the rest of the minions". So Commander would be much better suited to my personality type, in a realistic scenario.

That's a pretty realistic analysis, Kaiza. If I were 100% honest, I'd have to say Commander is is probably about as high as I would realistically get, too. But "They also serve who stand and wait."

Realistically? I'd be a happy Lieutenant or Lieutenant Commander probably.

I was going to ask which service branch you would be in. I think there's a topic about that somewhere.

Aside from what I posted before, I would most likely be a Lt Commander and head of a department. It's is difficult to say because there are so many situations to consider that would effect my answer one way or another!
My first choice would be a Captain if not given the option of being a higher rank!

Actually as an admiral you don't get to command a ship -- you're too busy overseeing the administration of the fleet. Yes, in "All Good Things..." Admiral Riker commanded the Enterprise, but I think the whole thing was a fantasy dreamed up by Q. Normally an admiral doesn't get to do that. Ah, there are some days when I long to be back in the captain's chair of the old Odysseus...
