Stark, I simply do not agree with any of your judgments about Star Trek being illogical. In my opinion, you've just decided to find all these nitpicking things without even trying to figure out why it is that way. You don't realize that Star Trek is set 300 years in the future, where they have technology that we can't even guess at today. Just to take one example -- who says the replicators don't have to have raw materials? Do you think the replicator just makes things out of nothing? I picture a starship having holds full of raw material of various kinds, which the replicators draw upon for making things, even food. I'm beginning to agree with Edify. You come off sounding like a Troll. If you would calm down a bit, a conversation might be possible, but the way you just babble on, I'm not going to bother. If you think Babylon 5 is so great, my suggestion is that you find a B5 forum and pester them. Have a good time!

Nah, Atoz, what is the point of telling about B5 being great to the people who already know that better then me? ) And don't forget, that I am watching DS9 now, and not B5. BTW if you insist here are some links: trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=111157trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=111138About you disagreeng with me it's okey as long as you can provide arguements. And you are more then welcome to do so. And once more, I can accept any technology, even the one which can turn a human into an allmighty god. But I will consider illogical if that god will have some problems with mosquitoes. I can accept Food replicators capable of producint anything, but Quark having FR and contacting smugglers to get something seems very unlikely. About raw matirials- why anyone needs to get any into a station? It is a closed system, where no even 1 gramm of mass doesn't just disappear. If some phasor is broken, you just drop it into FR and recieve a new one. So why to bother smuggling weapons? Even if there wil be need to recieve the additional mass in the station, it can be easily taken from Bajor by a shuttle. Still no need in freighters.

andrewlee, i recommend you to see Big Bang, it is funniest comedy about 4 scientist Star Trek fans where one of them is a true Spok )
And Babylon 5 of course. If you like Star Trek you will enjoy Babylon 5 beyond anything you can imagine. It got much less races then Star Trek but every one is complex. Minbari have the behavour, rituals and intellect of Vulkans, spiritual life of Bajorans, warrior traditions of Klingons Centari are dressed like Ferenghi, behaving like mix of Cardassians and Denobulans, have the same social structure and look like Romulans. Narn have the looks and self sacraficing traditions of Jem'Haddar, suspicious like Andorians, spiritual life, and post-occupation syndrom of Bajorans And humans are like Humans, but not of Star Trek but of real world, just a bit more advanced.
And I also thing that using an idioms adds some portion of emotional information to the general contexts of speech.

Stark -- Humans of ST are disgusting, always following their little FEELINGS, without thinking of the conquences. I realy like to see them all dead, but not only they are disgusting, but they are also immortal!... I can imagine the battle between White Star and Defiant like that:*
If you think that its more realistic to attack a strange ship without even trying to find out if its hostile, I feel sorry for you. I'm glad I didnt watch Babbleon 5 now -- they all sound like evil jerks they way you describe them.

Luke, where are you from? I assume you are from USA, so the example would be an US Army- What do you think REAL WORLD US SOLDIERS do when they see unidentified vehicle moving towards their blockpost somewhere in hostle region?

About you disagreeng with me it's okey as long as you can provide arguements. Why should I bother if you're not? You don't provide arguments, you merely make unsupported opinions. And when you state that you'd like to see all of us ST Humans dead, I take a think like that personally. If you can't be more civil, you're not going to last long here. Hasta la vista

Which exactly opinion do you count as "unsupported"? And what exactly wrong with the arguements I've already provided? But of course if you still think you should not bother answering to the point, then better don't bother answering at all.
And yes, making ST characters "mortal" or as Don Carleone used to say- "suddenly mortal" would make a show much better. Especially I'd like to see Ben Sisko dying in pain, because that character I realy do hate. And that is my personal opinion, which I am free to express, ain't I? No proof needed here but still if you'd like I can explain why I hate this character.
