I hadn't really thought about if before but now I've re-watched some of the episode of DS9 it seems that every race has it's downsides but humans! Ferengi or greedy and devious. Cardassians can be evil(although not all of them). Romulans don't exactly have the best reputation. Vulcans are peaceful I guess. Borg.....well I think we all know kind and peaceful aren't in their vocabulary. I don't know but it just seems like humans never are the cause of much :S

Ah, now we're talking in stereotypes! I think it's just that the unsavory characters among these races are the ones that naturally cause the most trouble and are the ones we remember. Not all Ferengi are greedy and devious. What about Nog?

Hmm I see your point there Atoz77. But still, there aren't many bad things that people think about when humans in star trek. I mean of course, like any race, they've done bad things but known of them seem to be very outlined. Ah How could I ever call Nog greedy and devious?? But perhaps nog would have been like his uncle if he just lived in the presense of humans.

Its not so much stereotypes as culture clash you know what I mean? Each culture teaches kids different things. Klingons are taught to be aggressive. Romulans are taught to be ruthless. Ferengi are taught the Rules of acquisition. Its just human culture is so diverse. Some children are taught to be nice, some are taught to be corporate raiders.

I'm not so sure, we also saw the ruthless, conniving, self-centred streak of humanity as well I think as well as the flipside of Romulans, Klingons and Ferengi to name a few.

I'm not sure I'm going to explain myself well, but here goes.
As much as I like Trek, it's always bothered me that most of the races seem so one dimensional.

Stereotypes, you mean? I agree that there are times when it seems that way. The worst example I can think of it a VOY episode I saw, where B'lanna (did I spell that correctly?) was split into two people, a Human and a Klingon. The Human was a whiny, useless crybaby, while the Klingon was s stubborn, stupid jerk. That struck me as such a racist episode it really lowered my opinion of VOY. But then, it was just the story the writer wanted to tell at that time.
