Hey Fellow Trekkies,
I proudly say that it was Star Trek that inspired the following. I grew up watching it, reading it, and (as much as I have denied it) pretended to be in it. It was only when I grew up, and changed my degree 3 times that I knew what I had to do. I had to become a filmmaker and create my very own Trek. At the time I was young and naive - I convinced myself that I could single-handedly convince studio executives to greenlight a 5th season of Star Trek Enterprise, with myself as the writer. Ah, those days are long behind me, and I've learned a lot since then.
I came to the conclusion that science fiction was, indeed, a dying genre, constantly pulled down by stereotypes and films that relied wholly on special effects. So that is why I decided that I would create this: TARTARUS. It's a way to show everyone that Science Fiction is possible without massive budgets, and that the stories can be meaningful, and compelling, and not simply take a back-seat to CGI.
We received overwhelmingly positive responses from nearly everyone we spoke to about the project, including the illustrious Tahmoh Penikett, who shocked us by offering to star in the film as our main character, Aulus Pateras.
It's been a crazy ride since then. We raised most of the funds needed to start the film - so we decided to run a Kickstarter campaign. It seemed like a longshot, but within 24 hours, the team at Kickstarter marked our project as 'Staff Pick'.
If you'd like to find out more, or even help us out a little, we invite you to go to our website: www.tartarus-film.com.
You can also follow the film's progress on these social media networks:

Thank you so much to anyone that reads this. Honestly, we'd love to just get the word out about the film. It's been a great trip thus far, and we'd love to see our dream finished.
