Here's my original Starcat picture. It didn't look as good reduced to the size of an avatar, I thought.

This is the first starship I tried to draw in Paint. There is actually an interesting story behind it. It represents the only Star Trek role-playing game I've ever played. I was the commander of the USS Vulpecula when two Starfleet scientists named Briggs and Radner had the crazy idea that by modifying the ship's deflector grid, they could actually repel the gravimetric lines of force of the galaxy itelf (or something like that) and turn the ship into a time machine. I think the guy who was running the adventure was inspired by the movie "The Philadelphia Experiment". Anyway, we had fun playing out the scenario up until we actually turned on the modified circuits, whereupon it became obvious that the gamemaster didn't really have a clear idea how the rest of it was going to play out. There were a lot of random die rolls, and we ended up in some kind of other dimension where we were attacked by a lot of amorphous alien beings (I believe he was thinking more of H.P. Lovecraft at this point). We eventually managed to return to our universe, but only at the cost of completely burning out the ship's engines and losing something like 60% of the crew. Needless to say, the "timeship" project was scrapped, along with poor Vulpecula.

still have a fondness for Vulpecula after all this time. I also drew what I imagined as the updated "A" version. IThe first thing you'll notice is that the support strut to the engine nacelle is longer, to accommodate a next generation deflector dish. The rear of the saucer section has also been lengthened, to enlarge the hangar deck and make room for two shuttlecraft. Would you believe the original only carried ONE shuttlecraft? How can an exploration ship operate with just ONE shuttlecraft? Interestingly enough, I just found out that if you Google "USS Vulpecula", you find a Star Trek online RPG or something, where they use the Vulpecula, only theirs looks nothing like mine. Hmmm... If I weren't so busy with the forums I've got, I'd think about signing up...

This one is of my own design, the USS Hyperion -- Okay, it started as a picture of Voyager, but I couldn't get it to look right. I think it was the smooth curves of the hull.
