Yeah, we all know it's true.
They're the bad boys all the good girls love to hate.
In this little corner of the Star Trek forum, tucked away in a section devoted to DS9, there has to be a little place where we can talk about all things Cardassian.
Consider it a place you can put our feet up, wax philosophical over the latest translation of Preloc, and sip on a glass of Kanar.
Don't worry. We've turned off the Obsidian Order's listening devices.

I think the Maquis movement is dead. Not only do I think this because the Dominion wiped them out when they made their alliance with the Cardies ("Blaze of Glory, DS9"), but because I feel that they feel that the Cardies have learned their lesson. They'll never occupy anyone again now that they know what it feels like.
I myself stopped hating the spoonheads when Damar looked at the man in the mirror and then wet him with kanar. It certainly took me long enough, but good girls love to hate right?
I used to think that the good deeds from the dissidents and Marritza didn't even begin to clean the stain on the carpet. But then the Rebellion to Restore Cardassia sprung up and really made them look....almost human. You could see in their eyes that they hated themselves for inflicting so much pain on other races (the Bajorans to mention one).
So, the Dominion did the damage that the Cardassians (as a whole) had deserved for so long. They really don't need the Maquis right now, what with a few billion dead on Primus and all.
So Cardassia, I'd just like to say I forgive you.

I have often thought of what would happen if we put Gul Dukat up against Lor... Who would win...
Well, I decided to put that to the test.
Dukat has Lor in a neck grip. Has he found the on/off button?
Ah ha. Just as I suspected.

Federation sentiment, if ever I heard it...

Hey what can I say. Care to make up a words for "humane" "humanitarian" that will work for all species, but mean the same thing as they do in Terran-English?

Cardassian Culture and Society 101
Some of the best information we get about Cardassian life and culture comes from Garak in DS9.
Let's start off with a few. More to follow.
Garak, on truth...
Garak: To think, after all this time, all our lunches together you still don't trust me. There's hope for you yet, doctor. Distant Voices
Garak: The truth is usually just an excuse for a lack of imagination. Improbable Cause
Bashir: Still the man of mystery. Garak: Oh, you wouldn't have me any other way. Distant Voices
Bashir: If you lie all the time, no one is going to believe you, even when you're telling the truth. Garak: Are you sure that's the point, Doctor? Bashir: Of course. What else would it be? Garak: That you should never tell the same lie twice. Improbable Cause
So, Class, what does this tell us about Cardassian Culture...?
Who's first?[/size]

I think they make out that lie so it would be difficult for us to know whether they are tell the truth when they actually are then we think they are lie and when there lie they lie.

Love the action figure photos from jopierce.
Personally, I think Gul Dukat is the hottest thing on DS9. I would totally do him. The sexual tension between him and Major Kira is palpable. I would have loved to see them get together and create some hot Cardassian fireworks!

Meh, the Cardassians were sneaky like the romulans, and arrogant like klingons.

Jopierce apparently tried to get all philosophical about "Cardassian culture" based on a few things that Garak said. May I remind you that Garak was a professional spy! Would you judge "human culture" based on a few things the Marquis de Sade (to take a name at random) said?

For the most part, I didn't like the Cardassians, though I did feel some sympathy and respect for them at the end of the dominion war when their ships turned on the Jem hadar and breen ships. I'm not sure, but I think it was O'Brien who said something about the cardies attacking the other dominion ships in the final battle of the war. I heard one reference and I can't remember the episode, but it was said the cardassians were once a spiritual people long ago.

I've always had the impression that the Cardassians can't stop the monster they created - the military dictatorship. Most of them love their family, especially their children, and wish a better future for them. But everytime one of them tries to make a change somebody else sees his/her opportunity to improve his/her rank. Same with Romulans

I didn't watch DS9 much, but that's the impression I get too, Weyoun. Remember the TNG episode when Picard was captured and tortured? You almost felt sorry for the poor Cardassian jailer (and especially for his granddaughter).
