Not necessarily. She'd just need a means of getting from one planet to another. For that matter, how did she get to Earth in the 19th century? Maybe she hitch-hiked!

Atoz. She could have been brought there by her people for a short time to study humanity to be picked up later. She could have simply been on vacation there. They never really said that I recall.

Hitchhiked, eh? Maybe with an electric thumb? Hope she always had her towel.

LOL Kijuro!! She mentioned her father in "Times Arrow" in 1893 San Fransisco. He could have brought her there or was going to pick her up at a later time.

I wonder if Guinan has the potential of being brought into any Star Trek/JJ Abrams sequel. Certainly what made a lot of people see the new movie was Leonard Nimoy (or the element of connection between "canon" and the new stuff). Guinan could provide an interesting component.
However, if brought in, the storyline would probably hinge on time travel/alternate reality/etc, and then be too similar to the Trek movie of 2009.

I think using Guinan in Star Trek stories would be a good idea. It doesn't matter if they are alternate reality stories or not. Her species has a very long life span. That is a lot of time for things to happen!!

Yeah, she could be in the next movie. I wouldn't be surprised if they went with another actress to play her, though.

Unless the next movie or series is post nemeses, they will have to use a different actress. In some sort of prequel, Guinan just won't be the same if played by another actress other than Whoopee Goldberg!!

Some time in the 23rd century, Guinan's home world was destroyed by the Borg. There were survivors, but they are scattered! I don't recall if Q was involved with this or not. It's possible with Q one way or the other! Guinan's species can pass for Human, but one major difference is that Guinan's people live for centuries. In the 24th Century, Guinan would have been at least 500 years old. I think Guinan was a good addition to the cast of characters on STNG!!!

It is said that Giunun's species is long lived. I think it was in "Times arrow".
