Doesn't everyone agree that she rocks? I mean, she stood up to Q, knowing his power. And Q was kind of scared of her. Am I the only one that thinks El-Auria may be another name for Gallifrey?

I always liked Guinan. She was so wise! She always knew exactly what to say to anyone in any given situation often more than anyone else could!!

So much more to her than we'd ever be told, and that means a mystery. I don't necessarily ever want to find out the whole story. I swear she's a Time Lord!

I heard a story about Whoopee Goldberg who played Guinan contacted the producers of Star Trek the next generation and told them she wanted to be on the show. I don't know any more of the details though. I'm glad it worked out because having Guinan made the show a lot better!!

Guinan was a fascinating character all right. As to being a Time Lord, I have to admit she does share some characteristics with them. Notice how in "Rascals", she was perfectly at home being a little kid again!

Whhhhoopi (as they say it on Family Guy) told LeVar Burton that she wanted to be on the show before production began. Burton passed this on, but the producers thought that he was joking, as Whoopi was a very big star.
She finally told Rodenberry herself and was given the part. The original concept for the Enterprise's bartender was "the most beautiful woman in creation".

Thanks for the more detailed account of Guinan coming to STNG! Whoopee Goldberg must have been a big fan of Star Trek to want to do this!!

Since the first episode. She saw Uhura and ran to get her mother. Exact words, "Mama, mama, there's a black lady on TV, and she ain't no maid!" That's the kind of thing that sticks with someone.

I remember from an episode of "Jackass" that she has a house in Mianus, PA.

I like her character. Very mysterious and interesting. Seems to have a lot of "hidden" qualities about her.

Now that would be an idea for a spin-off -- "The Lives of Guinan"!

Atoz. You have a good idea about a spin off with Guinan. The lives of Guinan sounds good. Guinan does have a very long life span. She was alive in 1893 in the STNG episode "Times arrow" parts one and two.

She would need a TARDIS, though.
