They were running from the Borg in Generations, which happened in the late 23rd century.

They were refuges on a transport and somehow got into the "Nexis" by coming into contact with it.

That movie's a horrible nightmare that I try to forget.

I liked the movie "Star Trek Generations" in spite of it being tragic. It was a good story, but other Star Trek movies were better than this one.

It wasn't the tragedy that I disliked. It was the whole metaphysical weepy Guinan part.

I get it...?.... You mean the scenes inside the Nexis, part of Guinan, never left, Picarad's family he never had...that kind of stuff!?!

Yeah. It was just too, um, who do I say it? I guess...the Nexus felt weak to begin with, how Kirk could have survived from the Enterprise to the Nexus without freezing to death and his head going splat. And something just seemed too "off" with Guinan's speech. It's hard to say, especially since I haven't seen Generations in like ten years.

They were running from the Borg in Generations, which happened in the late 23rd century. Ah, good. I didn't know this because "Generations" is probably number 9 on my list of the ten movies (only "The Undiscovered Country" is worse). I think I've only seen it once.

In Generations, Dr Sorrin...I believe that was his name who was the same species as Guinan was trying to get back into the Nexis.

guinan is awesome because she could tell if something isnt right and everyone trusts her and in the episodes where it has been set in a different timeline she always puts it back into the right one

Guinan has a lot more perceptions than Humans and other species do. She uses these abilities and awareness to guide others to the correct path....course of action to resolve the situation at hand.
