I think its a shame too. Apparantly George didn't invite William Shatner to his wedding but the rest of the surviving Original series crew were.

No, I did not really know he was. Not surprising to me though.

I'm glad he's out of the closet and happier. He and his love make such a cute couple. I hope they can merry and live happily without the government taking away their rights. In the self proclaimed best country on earth, you'd think consenting adults would have the right to merry the man/woman they love, even if it's 2 men or 2 women. Being gay is a natural thing. Animals out in nature have had relations with other animals of the same sex, so what all those religious zealots who yell that it's Satan's work can shove it.

I read that Ohio has also moved to allow gay marriages. How many states does that make, now? Anyone know?

I just wish the media would consentrate more on Takei acting and his other achievements rather than dragging up his strained relationship with Shatner... Takei is a really nice guy whos a darn good actor.

He has a strained relationship with Shatner because The Shat was a jerk to him.
I met George at a convention in 2001 (the date was 1/7/01) and told my brother some of the things he said, and my brother totally called the gayness. I made an unfortunate comment to him that could so easily be construed as a proposition.
I like him a lot. I don't mean this in a bad way, but he seems wonderfully conceited.

As far as Gay marrage and how many state allow this...I know almost nothing about this. I wonder why Shatner was a jerk to him? Was it because he is gay?

I often wonder if its partly to do with George's own insecurities, lets be honest during the 60s it was hard enough being a minority actor never mind being a closet gay minority actor, maybe Shatner was just too confidant and slightly self absorbed in his own career to be as sympathetic to George as he would have maybe liked??? just a thought

Varel This is a likely possibility! I have heard lots of things about the real life interactions of the original caste. It can be hard to sort out what is and how much of something is true or not because of everyone's side of the story!

Shatner had changes made in scripts, most notably ST VI, that removed any instance of Sulu saving Kirk. Originally Sulu was supposed to come up with the "homing torpedo" idea.
