I liked the continuity during the Kelvin scenes. The blue uniforms and the whole "polarize the viewscreen" thing were great nods to Archer era.
It makes sense too, considering everything up until that very point would've been the standard Trek timeline. As far as the Kelvin itself is concerned, it's a ship that really only looks good from certain angles, IMO.

what class is the kelvin and how come its so pathetic because if you think logically then a science ship should have stronger shields because it goes closer to stars and things like that so i would have put better shields yet it gets screwed up in 3 hits

By a ship from 150 years in the future!
It was just known as a Kelvin-class ship, primarily designed as a survey vessel.

what the hell happened to archers beagle porthos, and did Montgomery say admiral? Admiral archer's prized beagle was transported and never re-materialized and that is why Mr Scott was stationed at that isolated outpost. He made a reference that he would know what happened to the beagle once it re-materialized...he sounded doubtful that it would though! The Kelvin was an advanced ship for it's time, but no match for the larger Romulan vessel that was over a century more advanced than it!

Not entirely sure *what* beagle it was, but it wouldn't be Porthos - or at least not the one we know.
Also, were the Xindi ships actually from the future?

The Xindi ships were not from the future and ArkRoyal is right about the beagle not being Porthos but a much later dog probably one of Johnathon Archers decendents beagles...remember 2/3 of a century is between Enterprise and the USS Kelvin with Kirk's father.

Yeah I thought the same when I saw it. Made me chuckle out loud as did many in the audience when I saw it lol. Wasn't the USS Kelvin called the Kelvin because JJ Abrams wanted to name it after his grandfather?
