Yeah, so I got tickets to an advance showing and went see it finally. I have to say, it was just really really really awesome. It was well worth the 3 years or so I'd been waiting for it... So yeah, if anyone wants me to spoil it for them, I'll be glad to. Or I could just help explain things... Or nothing, because I'm sure most of you want to remain as spoiler-free as possible.

Mr Data. Do you live outside of the USA? Isn't the new star Trek movie been out for awhile in Europe?

No I don't. In fact, I'm in Southern California. The movie isn't out anywhere, that was the world tour of premieres that they recently finished.

I do have one question. How would you rank this compared to the other Star Trek movies?

That's a pretty tough question, but in my opinion it is one of the best, probably the best. It's very different from the other movies... It left me speechless for quite some time after the credits. I don't know, it's just my opinion. I loved it, and I hope you will too. It was just perfect.

Lol, I like your sig, data. Where the 4/28/09 is put at the end. How did you exactly get these advance tickets? I never even knew they existed. Then again, I guess it makes sense since you're from Southern California that you'd get the tickets. I mean, that's where Hollywood is after all.

That's good to hear. I've had really high hopes for this movie. I have a feeling I won't be disappointed.

lol thanks I got the ticket off of craigslist.com because I couldn't manage to win them in the actual contest. x1039.com/includes/news_items/news_items_more.php?section_id=15&id=1578I didn't find out about them until it was nearly too late, then it was too late, then I picked it up on Monday from somebody who put it online. So yeah, a lot of work to obtain, but well worth it. EDIT: @matthew: There is no possible way to be disappointed. ;D

One thing I can't figure out. According to what I've read, the movie takes place just after Kirk and Spock graduate from the Academy. As we know, Kirk's first ship was the USS Farragut, under Captain Garrovick. And where do Uhura, Scott, Sulu and Chekov come in, since they didn't come along until fifteeen years later? Does the movie fast-forward to them later on or what?

Well... The movie takes place right after kirk graduates, so his first ship is the Enterprise, along with most of the others... And this next bit is pretty much a spoiler but it explains how JJ got away with all this stuff... I've edited the stuff to include actual spoilers... Umm the second spoiler tag is more spoilerific. Alternate timeline. Makes a good excuse for changing things how he wants em. I'll just say that and spoil no more, unless someone wants to know more. And I'm fairly certain Spock isn't just graduating. BTW... Karl Urban as McCoy is probably the closest to the old character, just spot on. Not a spoiler but I like spoiler tags. OH and actual spoiler: Uhura has a scene where she gets mad at Spock for assigning her to the Farragut and gets him to change it to the Enterprise. Scotty got on the Enterprise by chance... He was on Delta Vega. Sulu and Chekov were at the helm from the start... BUT HEY alternate timeline... It doesn't even matter!

Atoz and Mr Data. I find your posts very interesting! I'm eagerly waiting to see the movie for myself! The alternate time-line does interest me and it's a way to get away with changing things.
