I think it's funny how irrelevant this thread will become over the weekend. Well, if we can't talk about the plot for fear of "spoiling" things, I'd say the whole topic was irrelevant to begin with.

Haven't we been discussing the plot? I started this thread so anyone could ask a question if they wanted. Anyway, I went to a midnight showing at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood last night... It was awesome. I even got a free t-shirt with some card and an iPhone case with the Enterprise on it. They had props and costumes from the movie on display, along with some Enterprises from The Enterprise Project. Lots of people were interviewed there. I probably got in the background of a few. lol AdmiralSpock, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I wasn't sure what thread to put this in, but this one will work. I saw the movie last thursday night. Definitely liked it a lot. It's not the same as the Star Trek we've known for years, but I think I like the direction they went with it.
At the moment it's rated 8.6 on IMDB, which is very good. It's been moving up the list of top 250 movies.

I was really impressed with this movie as well. It hit all of the key beats for each character and really brought things up to speed nicely.
I think the inclusion of Leonard Nimoy was a great idea to bridge the movies and to give the new series some credibility as well.

One thing I can't figure out. According to what I've read, the movie takes place just after Kirk and Spock graduate from the Academy. As we know, Kirk's first ship was the USS Farragut, under Captain Garrovick. And where do Uhura, Scott, Sulu and Chekov come in, since they didn't come along until fifteeen years later? Does the movie fast-forward to them later on or what? farragut actually was in the movie but verry breifly the only way kirk got on the enterprise is because he was snuck abourd my the dr.

So yeah, I noticed a couple of things in Star Trek. First, the Aptera. I knew this one had something to do with the movie, because I saw spy photos of it on the set of starfleet academy about a year ago or so. It was plugged in charging. But in the movie, when Kirk and McCoy are walking down the stairs of starfleet academy, the camera turns around to the back of them and the Aptera drives by in the background. Secondly, in sick bay on the Enterprise, during the 4th time I saw the movie, I finally noticed and recognized many Dyson Airblades, a type of hand dryer that is rather expensive and I've only seen and used once, in a Universal Studios restroom. Pretty cool, but don't they have better technology 200 years from now? Anyway, I thought these were sort of neat things. I'm still searching for a tribble, so perhaps after I see Star Trek for the 6th or 7th time on Saturday I will have found it. I think I have a good idea of where it might be. Edit: I put links for reference on the names.

Ok, so after seeing it another time, I saw two tribbles purring in a cage in Scotty's lab. Kinda obvious, and I'm amazed I missed them before.

A lot of times you need to see something more than once to notice everything.

I completely agree with you. The first time is all about the story and understanding what is going on. After you know what happens, you can look at small details and still follow the story easily. 6th time will be tomorrow.

Yeah, lol. Great movie, man. You gotta see it asap. I'll have seen it probably 8 times by Monday; I'm going tomorrow, Saturday, then IMAX on Sunday. Probably. It's my birthday, I can see it as much as I want for now. BTW, I also noticed that McCoy mentioned Nurse Chapel when asking for 40 CCs of Cortisone. Never got to see her though.

Oh, and also, a couple of months ago, I got to see a couple of Apteras up close and I asked the representatives from the company about it being in Star Trek and they didn't know a thing about it.
