Atoz I like to think that the continuity exists intact in one reality and in another reality it is altered! I am in no way trying to imply anything negative, but am trying to salvage situations and suggest ideas in that altered reality that is from the new movie! I like to think of the glass is half full not half empty!!! It's the only way I can have any inner peace concerning the situation!!!! I do agree with you that the continuity is radically altered in the new movie! They can do whatever they want !!!

It was modern and had a lot of special effects. It was a lot different then what I was expecting, but not bad, it made a good action film. Spoc did seem irrational and showed a human side, but that was to be expected giving his background and that he was young with not much training. It is worth watching if you like star trek or not. Very entertaining.

Hm i just saw the new movie, well my opinion is this is a not too bad movie, but it has abolutely not trek-like mood its more darker and shall we say"modern" but some part of it i dont like absolutely... like... the whole new story... they just completely rewrite the storyline with the destruction of the vulcan... the romulans are absolutely not like in the series, and things like theese... it was ruind all think what is trek-like... -.-' so in a simple separate miovie its allright but parsing into the whole trek universe its a total failure...

I suggest you read Star Trek Countdown. It explains how this all fits in with the Trek universe we know. Everything makes more sense after reading it.

Atoz I like to think that the continuity exists intact in one reality and in another reality it is altered! Well, sure, but you can only live in one reality at a time. This is the reason I didn't like the ENT episode, "In a Mirror Darkly", which took place entirely in the Mirror Universe, with alternate (i.e. "evil") versions of all the characters. I simply had no reason whatsoever for caring what happened to them. That's how I maintain "inner peace" with respect to this new movie. Anyway, I promise -- no more derrogatory comments about the movie.

What is this Countdown? Is it a novel, or a website, or what?

I became a star trek fan about 6 years ago(when i was six) and i recently watched the film with my dad. I wasn't very fond off it the charecters personalities were all different.

Anyway, I promise -- no more derrogatory comments about the movie. Yes, I'm quoting you from two months ago, lol. Anyway, I didn't like that episode much either, and here's why. That was near the end of season 4, and I felt like they were really wasting time with only a couple episodes left in the show. I had no interest in what happened during that episode, unless it directly affected something in the normal universe...which it didn't if I remember correctly. But I can go along with the new movie, especially because it's not just one movie. There will be a sequel, and I'm still hoping for a TV series. I think it'll be interesting to see things unfold differently over the course of several movies/series.

Liked the action in it, and kudos to the new actors who had the mannerisms of the old cast down to a tee! But if there was any shred of Trek in the movie, it went right out the window!
