I once read a magazine article which said, "Trekkies don't believe in UFOs", so I have to test this. Don't think that I'm planning on debunking anything, I just want to know what you think.
Of course, I voted No.

There are a lot of theories about UFOs which are simply an unidentified flying objects. I believe that people's imagination gets the best of them and in a way their expectations get met by them imagining something is a flying saucer instead of some hallucination, some other phenomenon or something that can be explained logically. The mind is a powerful thing and if a person believes something , it can easily deceive that person!!! It's just another urban legend. I would like to see the "Myth Busters" crack this one!!

Some of the UFOs might actually be information gathering devices, if anything, but I doubt it.
As Andrew said, it is most likely an urban legend.

My opinion about flying saucers is the same as my opinion of ghosts. If you see something you can't quite identify, it's easy to let your imagination get carried away, especially if it's about something you want to believe in for philosophical reasons. Ghosts and flying saucers sometimes make good stories, but I would be EXTREMELY surprised if they turned out to be real.

It's the same situation with Bigfoot and other ape men, the chupicabra, ancient astronauts and any other urban legend! The mind can play tricks on a person more if they are stressed, tired , or intoxicated. a severally mentally ill person could easily hallucinate something and call it one of these things!

I'm one of your "see it to believe it" people, if I see a flying saucer with little green men waving out of the window then I'll believe it but as of yet...I'm a none believer.

I tend to agree that some things like UFO's being aliens flying around in flying saucers are lacking evidence, thus being unbelievable! Things like this are heavily exaggerated by crack pots who will believe anything and everything just based on their delusional points of view!

My Dads a none believer even though he had an experience once that he couldn't explain. He claimed that he was on his way to the bus stop after visiting my mother ( this was when they were courting back in the early 60s) he was walking up a steep bank next to a farmers field when he said he was surrounded by a bright light that made everything go black and white ( a bit like a checkers board ...apparently) he then felt as if his legs were like lead and found running difficult, he said there was no sound just the bright light and slowing down sensation...then as suddenly as it started it was gone... he ran to the bus stop got on the bus and was so shook up the driver had to take the change from his hand..he then threw up...LOL All the above as my dad told me, and even today he hadn't a clue what it was but he's adamant it wasn't from out of space,,,LOL

As far as UFO's and other urban legends go, I have a funny thought.....A little green man in a flying saucer has Bigfoot as his first officer, has a pet chupicabra and I'm sure if you see him..if he is having a good day will wave at you proving to you that he exists ;D
I don't totally discount things that can't be proved, but find them extremely unlikely to be true even though they can't be proven not to exist!
