If this is the case, then why even bother with something that is doomed to fail shortly after it gets started? It would be best to find out what would be more popular first and then go from there.

I guess that I'm saying I probably wouldn't like the execution. If done right, however, an animated series could be great fun.

I agree with you! The problem is that it will most likely be canceled after a short time unless it's something a lot of the fans will like!!

This could be, but I don't know too much about this style to even make a guess to whether it would succeed or not and for how long!

Well, I just think that it would be interesting. I didn't realize that TAS is now considered canon! Makes me want to watch!

When you watch an episode of TOS, let us know what you think of it.

Aside from finding re-runs on TV, you could do an internet search. You could check around and get them on Tape/disc.
We need to get back on topic here!
Taking into consideration that the new movie was a prequel, the producers must of felt a prequel series like Enterprise was either necessary, they liked it best, or they thought it had the best chance to succeed.

This is just getting back to what Admiral Matthew said. It would have been hard to start a new series taking place after Next Generation, because at that time there was still a NG movie in the works. So it was a pretty logical move to reach back and show us how the Federation came to be in the first place. It would have been nice if the ENT series had lasted long enough to get into the Romulan War, or even the first Klingon War (and I'm sure that's what the producers planned to do).

I have stated the very same thing except for the first Klingon war which as far as I understand took place early in the 23rd century. It is also a good idea! I just wasn't thinking that far ahead to include it. It would have been nice to see the Daedalus class star ship in action since all we have seen are models of it! It was the ship class to replace the NX class in 2161. Lt Reed refereed to it as one of those warp 7 beauties in the series finale.

I don't know if this is on topic. It might be considered something like "If not Enterprise, what else would they have done?" But...
I finally got around to watching all the extras on the TOS Season Three DVDs, and they include interviews with the cast members. The interview with George Takei was done in 2004, and some of the things he said make it clear that he thought they were going to do a series about Captain Sulu and the USS Excelsior. That would have been nice!
