I've recently begun watching Enterprise from the beginning of the series, and my feelings about it are changing. I'm now approaching the middle of season 3. Maybe I'm just a Star Trek fanboy (ok, I definitely am), but I like Enterprise. I'm not quite as hardcore as some people when it comes to canon, so if something doesn't quite match, I'm not all that bothered by it. I wish more people would have given the show a chance. Even though a lot of people don't like the Enterprise intro, I think it's my favorite one of all the series.
I like how the characters are more like present day humans. A little rough around the edges. The show is a lot different from the other series, but I don't like to compare it to the others. Hopefully with time people realize this show isn't really all that bad, but I doubt that will happen. Rick Berman & Brannon Braga might have really screwed up with Nemesis (even though, for the most part, I like that movie too), but I don't think they did too bad of a job with Enterprise. People just weren't ready for a Star Trek series to be that much different from the rest.

I think a lot of people gave up on it too early. I'm liking season 3 a lot. I'm through half the season, and so far just about all the episodes are part of the same storyline. I think it's a nice change of pace from the standalone episodes.

I like the idea of the show but I think because it looked so much cooler than the original series I was a bit taken aback. Obviously the makers couldn't make it the same way as the original series time and technology in program making is far advanced than that of the 60's. I just couldn't get used to the ship being so much better looking than the original daft I know

I guess it's easy for me to get past stuff like that. I think Enterprise got better every season. Unfortunately, by the time the show really hit its stride, most people gave up on it already.

Well people power has managed to get Futurama back up and running ( I've heard tell its coming back due to public demand) So maybe if enough of a fuss was made by the Trekkie's who loved it......you never know

What do you mean your feelings are changing? you didn't like enterprise before? you always had me watchenterprise episodes on your laptop, so i'm sure you liked it. and about the canon thing, aren't othertreks kinda messed up in some way...i think i inquired you about this before, but yeah. also, Nemesis was good, but hey, i'm no hardcore trek fan, i just watch shows cause they're fun, and nemesis was fun, besides...you know... I like the idea of the show but I think because it looked so much cooler than the original series I was a bit taken aback. Obviously the makers couldn't make it the same way as the original series time and technology in program making is far advanced than that of the 60's. I just couldn't get used to the ship being so much better looking than the original daft I know you should see batman begins, the batmobile in that one would munch up any of the other batmobiles ever made. you have to understand that batman begins is the first batman in chronological order (but most recent in release date) and leads up to the firest movie made (kinda like how trek is with the movies, and series for that matter) but yeah, that pretty much parallels what you're saying with startrek. Well people power has managed to get Futurama back up and running ( I've heard tell its coming back due to public demand) So maybe if enough of a fuss was made by the Trekkie's who loved it......you never know i never knew it was gone...lol, when did it leave?

Allow me to clarify. A lot of Star Trek fans blame Rick Berman and Brannon Braga for ruining the franchise. While I still believe there's some truth to that, I'm not convinced it's totally their fault anymore. Before I acquired all the episodes of Enterprise, there were a lot of them I hadn't seen, and I always assumed it wasn't very good in the first season or two. Even though I think seasons 3 and 4 are better than the first two, I still like every season. Before I watched all the episodes in order, I didn't realize how good the show actually is. And when it comes to Enterprise, following Star Trek canon is more difficult than it was for other series. TOS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager all pretty much could do whatever they wanted, and it would become canon. Since Enterprise was part of an already existing history, they didn't have as much slack to work with. I'd like to explain a little more, but I need to be going. Hopefully that'll be good enough.

Apparently Futurama was axed after 3 series's as it wasn't doing so well in the US, we over here in the UK loved it along with The Simpson's. My daughter was telling me the other day that due to it becoming popular in the States (thanks to the series being out on DVD) they were going to start to make it again.

The thing I don't like about Enterprise is that it portrays Vulcans as arrogant, snobby and, well, kind of stupid (T'pol refuses to accept that time travel is possible even when confronted with proof, because the Vulcan Science Academy says it's not possible). I don't like this because I've always admired Vulcans. In the original series, the Vulcans were presented as superior to humans in many ways.
Of course, I can see why the writers are doing this. The whole premise of Enterprise is that humans are just starting to explore, and they have to portray the qualities that make us human (curiousity, compassion, etc.) in as positive a light as possible. Unfortunately, it means that they have to lean a little too far in the other direction in their portrayal of Vulcans, for contrast.

It occurs to me that "Sub-commander" is the Vulcan equivalent of "Captain" (at least it was among the Romulans). Since Vulcans have longer life-spans that humans, and it has been hinted that T'pol is actually a LOT older than she looks, how much would you like to bet that she technically out-ranks Archer, if their time-in-service were compared?
