Have any of you seen or have seen and liked this episode? The story was told to Archer and Trip by T'pol over dinner. T'pol's great grandmother was one of the crew that survived, played by Jolene Blalock who also played T'pol. Right after the Soviets launched sputnik a Vulcan survey ship was observing earths first artificial satellite. The ship crashed near Carbon creek PN. 3 of the 4 in the crew survived. They were there for weeks before being rescued. One of them named Mestral stayed behind to study humanity. There was no record of him in the historical database of earth, but was well documented in the Vulcan historical data base. I wonder what he did and what became of him......Did he die soon afterward, live out a full life on earth or was he picked up by another Vulcan ship later?.....speculation on my part. Any thoughts, comments ,ideas speculation is welcome.

Well, it is just a show but if the events, for the sake of conversation, were real. Then he probably helped humanity with some technology.

Zack that is one good possibility, but the Vulcan's did have a policy of non interference, but Mestral probably would have ignored this directive at least to a point.

Zack as you mentioned this is for the sake of conversation. One question that lingers in my mind about Mestral is that he was never discovered. There were so many situations where this could have occurred.

I know, that one is very difficult. Unless somehow, he passed it as an ear disease/ DNA malfunction.

Another way Metsral could have been discovered would be if he was injured ..more than minor in an accident of some kind. Humans would be shocked at the sight of green blood. He could have be captured by some cooperation/ secret government agency to be studied and possibly dissected and all this could have kept hidden from all but a select few...and the records hidden some where "Top Secret"

Hm, I'm really not sure. But didn't Tpol say it was only a story?

Well, I for one believe that T'Pol chose to put the hewmons at ease by telling them it was just a story.
Having them look at her with more suspicion would have ruined a good working enviroment.
But one must speculate, the first contact with the Vulcans seemed to go just a bit to smoothly.
And from around the 50's to the 80's we did have alot of development in technology.
I suspect Mestral was aware of the whole problem with damage and disease, but with even a minimum medical supply he would actually not be so bad off, cause having copper-based blood would make him immune to many of the ailment humans suffer from.
And Hiding wouldn't really be a problem until DNA-testing could be performed at the local hospital. Just a fancy story would keep most mouths shut.

Mac awol, I like your ideas about Mestral. At the end of the "Carbon creek" Episode, T'Pol was in her quarters and took out the purse her great grandmother had on earth...so she was telling a true story.

I tend to dismiss this episode as just a story T'Pol was telling, although I must admit she never otherwise showed any signs of that sort of creativity. The purse could have another explanation.

Atoz...I never considered that option with the purse.....I just thought it was the actual purse T'Pol inherited from her great grandmother.

I may very well be, but that doesn't necessarily mean the whole story was true. As I said, I don't think it matters one way or another.
But... if the Vulcans had been observing Earth in the 1950s, that might explain a few UFO sightings. Hmm.....
