If its true, Mestral might have become a science fiction writer, to help get Earth people used to the idea of aliens. I seem to recall a particular person who wrote over 400 books, far more than a normal human could... Luke, if you're thinking about my hero, Isaac Asimov -- close, but not quite. His first published story was in 1939, "Marooned off Vesta". But the idea makes sense. He could have changed his name to something innocuous, like oh, I don't know, Roddenberry or something...

Atoz....that is a good idea...there are so many names Mestral could have assumed to write sci-fi or to do anything else for that matter.

Zach, Andrew As For Nuclear War, We Could Easily Stop The Missiles In Thier Silos As Then If The Are In The air We Could Blast Them Out Of It In High Above The Earth We Can Vaporise Them With High Temperature High Energy Weapons, As So There Would Be NO Radiological Fall Out.
Atoz That Makes Sense,As I Could See That Too!

Zack. Its much safer living far from a major city like I do, but it could still happen. Or the fallout could be carried by the wind a long ways.

If we had Nuclear war, let's be realistic, we'd be screwed, sooner or later!

Zack it depends on how many nukes hit and where. Nuclear winter across the globe would be bad news for any survivors. It would temporarily offset global warming though.

Leopardess, you missile defense system wouldn't work on Earth, we don't have a Rapid Regenerative Ozone Layer, as you must have to work in cooperation with your energy weapons.
I mean everybody knows that that kind of weapons offset a rapid reaction in the oxygen.
But no a nuclear war would not be the end of mankind. The end of civilization most certainly.
Enclaves of people would be scattered around the earth, most in Africa, and while radiation would cause problems for many years, nature would eventually adapt and so would mankind.
So don't worry, if it happens it happens. You and your might not survive but mankind will prevail.

Mac Awol. Agree with what you are saying. Like I have said,. People living away from large urban areas also not directly down wind would have much better chances to survive a nuclear war.

Zack. I agree totally. Then there won't be a problem of trying to survive a nuclear Holocaust
