In one dominion battle scene. The Defiant was acting like it was disabled to lure in Jem Hadar attack ships. When they lured them in close General Martok de-cloaked his bird of prey and destroyed them with the help of the defiant who quickly brought their systems back on line. I loved that scene!!

Glad you agree about the ship name "Defiant" being a Name. "San Paolo" would be an OK name for some other type of ship ,but not a war ship!!

Amebruz. Yes it could be in another translation of the same name ,but it doesn't sound as good to me.

There is a lot in a name for a ship. Certain names are better for certain types of ships. Any ship that is armed well and fighting the Dominion should have a strong sounding name!

You are right. Too many people died! The Jem Hadar were genetically engineered soldiers who were very efficient at killing.

The Federation suffered heavy losses in personnel and ships, but they did not get conquered by the dominion.

"San Paolo" would be an OK name for some other type of ship ,but not a war ship!! I don't know. The American navy has a class of attack submarines named after cities -- the Los Angeles, the Dallas, and so on. But I see your point. As I mentioned in another thread, ship names in the same class should have something in common. Ships in the "Defiant" class should therefore say "defiance".
