I don't remember if he specifically got it through that snowball, but I do know it spread really fast. Virtually the entire crew was infected.

Oh the Bynars. Cute little things, plugged in together in a kind of gestalt weren't they? Or are you thinking of Minuet?

Yes, she was! But compare Minuet to the characters we met in "The Long Goodbye"! Picard and Riker both agreed that she was an extraordinary character, BUT she wasn't self-aware like they were. She didn't ask them about their funny clothes or ask if she could leave the holodeck with them did she?

Now that you mention it yeah. I think the thing that made her sepcial was she acted as if she were a real person. She didn't have just a set of stock phrases like I imagine most holodeck characters do. But no she wasn't self aware in the sense she started wondering wher she was.

Okay and what about the Bynars? They all seem to read each others thoughts or at least finish each others sentences. How do you think that works?

I don't think it was really made clear whether it was genuine telepathy or whether it was those digital implants that linked them together. They looked a lot like clones, so that might be part of it. Do you think the Bynar are the first step leading to the Borg?

I never thought of it that way but they did have those implants. I guess it would be just a matter of more and more until they were finally bull borg.
btw, I've made a list of season one episodes I thought this might help us keep track.season one: Encounter at Farpoint, The Naked Now, Code of Honor, The Last Outpost, Where No one Has Gone Before, Hide and Q, Lonely Among Us, Justice, The Battle, Haven, The Big Goodbye, Datalore, Angel One, 11001001, Too Short a Season, When the Bough Breaks, Home Soil, Coming of Age, Heart of Glory, The Arsenal of Freedom, Symbiosis, Skin of Evil, We'll Always Have Paris, Conspiracy, The Neutral Zone.

Next up is "Too Short A Season", and I think we've dealt with that one already. It was the one about Admiral Jameson who was suffering from a disease and took the youth potion. But it turned out the potion was killing him anyway. This seemed a little silly to me. I would think if any species had developed a wide spectrum anti agapic like that, it would be common knowledge to Starfleet Medical, wouldn't it?

Oh yeah. apparently it was one of those legendary things only whispered about. I would think in the 24th centruy people would know better than to try unapproved medicines.

When you're sick, you don't always think straight.
Next is "When the Bough Breaks". That was about the legendary "invisible" planet Aldea, wasn't it? Their technology was far in advance of the Federation, but they were sterile.

And they abducted a bunch of children? Yes I remember that one. They didnt seem to grasp the idea that people are attached to their children and wouldnt put up with that kind of thing!
